Surfing is a difficult art to master. The process of learning can sometimes be very frustrating and takes quite a long time. Our goal is to help beginners and intermediates get better, faster, in a safe environment. Our course go beyond the typical “how to pop up class” and we make sure to provide clear technical advices that will help you continue to progress after our surf camp is over, so you will not be the Kook of the day. The lessons go from novice or ‘’totally kook’’ until advanced. We adapt the course for each level with the right board that suits you the best, and with the right tide so you can surf the best window (moment of the day). We might have to walk to find a good and empty lineup depending on the conditions.

Beginner

First time surfing? Tried a few times without success, or a long time ago? This course is for you! Get a full introduction of the sport with theories about the surf, weather and environment, learn the first steps and master the basic techniques.

Intermediate

You have surfed before and can easily stand on a white wash wave but still not confident on an unbroken wave, your goal is to improve on your paddling and catching more green waves on maybe a smaller board? That is your course!

Confirmed

Have surfed many times before, can paddle out and drop a greenwave and surf to the left and to the right but still not able to do critical turns or surf from top to bottom ? Come join this course!

Bernardo a.k.a Lord.of.the.kooks is a well known surf coach in Saint Girons Plage, where he lives and surfs every day since he moved to town with his beautiful and local wife in 2008. Originally from Brazil (the world’s best surfing nation) where he learned to surf at the age of 11, he quit his birth city of Porto Alegre to keep up with his passion of riding waves in Torres-RS and then to Ibiraquera (surf spot of Imbituba, nearby Florianopolis) where he actually spends the south hemisphere summer with his family. At the age of 19 he moved to San Diego-CA in the U.S to live the Cali Dream. During the 3 years he spent in Ocean Beach surfing and living his dream where he met his French girl Marie, a local from Saint Girons, who also surfs, and they both moved together after a bunch of surf trips, back to South West France where they raise their child, a little shredder called Leo. Nardo has been coaching with the St Girons Surf Club and Wavetours for the passed years. Passionate surfer for decades, he is a certified life saver and qualified instructor with tons of experience and knows the spot eyes closed. He is capable to teach a salad how to surf!

Video analysis

Theories and video shooting during the course is a good key to help you see and correct your moves, stances, positions and style. Very personal advice to help individually and structured surf thrills to work on specific goals. All that, always with a lot of humor and laid back atmosphere, cause surf is all about the fun! Yeeew!

Equipment available

We have a vast quiver of surfboards, going from soft tops catch surf (famous Jamie O’Brien model) from 9’’ till 5’4, some nice performance boards and the classic ‘’surf lesson’’ boards.

We do have also some hard boards and PU and epoxy boards(Index Krown) for advanced surfers and some vintage models to try out. Body boards, balance boards and surf skates also available.
